Good lot of eleven items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: CHARLES THOMAS (1800-1878), partly-printed D.S., 2pp. 4to., Washington D.C., June 20, 1850, an estimate of equipment issued to 'Kearny's Dragoons', signed in black ink at the conclusion, with an A.L.S. on the second leaf to a Gen. Stanton transmitting the account, signed at the conclusion in black ink adding his rank 'Lt. Col.' Original folds and slight toning, else very good. WITH: JOSEPH S. SMITH (1836-1919), A.E.S. in black ink on a 3.5 x 2 in. slip of paper cut from a larger document, adding his rank 'Lt. Col...'. Ragged at the right edge and showing slight toning, else very good. WITH: BENJAMIN F. SPOONER (1828-1881), manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., Indianapolis, Mar. 30, 1869, to U.S. Attorney General Ebenezer R. Hoar, a recommendation for a friend to the position of solicitor. Spooner signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding 'U.S. Marshal'. Shows folds with slight splits and toning, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM M. STONE (1827-1893), A.L.S., 2pp. 4to., Savannah, Tennessee, March 13, 1862, objecting to the election of a captain by his unit's popular vote. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, shows original mailing folds and slight toning to the edges, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM L. STOUGHTON (1827-1888), signature in violet ink on a 3 1/4 x 1.5 in. slip of paper. Shows mild toning, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM E. STRONG (1840-1891), A.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Chicago, Oct. 26, 1882, to Gen. Manning Force, acknowledging receipt of a telegram asking him to recommend the promotion of Gen.
