Good lot of ten items signed by Union brevet generals of the Civil War, includes: AARON S. DAGGETT (1837-1938), A.N.S., 1p. 12mo., [n.p., n.d.], attesting that he served as an officer in the U.S. Army through the Civil War to June 8, 1864, and is thus entitled to a increased ration allowance. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Capt." Trimmed from a larger sheet, shows toning and a horizontal fold to the upper half, else very good. WITH: JAMES A. CUNNINGHAM (1830-1890), manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., Boston, May 8, 1867, to a Lt. Col. John N. Coyne, forwarding the Adjutant General's reports for 1863-66 (not present), he signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows a 1 1/2" tear at the bottom edge not affecting any text, with mounting remnants to the verso and slight soiling, else very good. WITH: GEORGE H. CROSMAN (1799-1882), pre-war manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., Philadelphia, June 30, 1855, to a Capt. R.M. Porter, advising that he deliver "...15 or 20 dozen of the stockings you allude to..." to a lieutenant. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds and slight soiling, else very good. WITH: FREDERICK M. CRANDALL (1831-1911), partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 4to. [n.p.], Dec. 31, 1873, a receipt for his pay for the month of December. Shows original folds and a few ink spots, else very good. WITH: HENRY C. CORBIN (1842-1908), A.L.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [Washington, D.C.], Oct. 28 [n.y.], to a Mrs. Jones, acknowledging the receipt of her note in regards to a Preston Brown, and reassuring her that she needn't be concerned about his case. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original folds, else very good. WITH: HENRY S. COMMAGER (1817-1867), A.N.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., St. Helena Island, S.C., April 12, 1864, to the "Picket Guard" a pass for a Mr. Sumner and friend to pass through the lines. He signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding his rank "Lt. Col. 67th Ohio Vols." Inset into a paper border, shows original folds, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM COGSWELL (1838-1895), partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [South Carolina] Feb. [n.d.], 1865, an "Abstract of Provisions" sold to officers in the month of February. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original folds with small splits thereto, else very good. WITH: JOHN COBURN (1825-1908), A.E.S. in black ink on a 2" x 3 1/2" slip of paper cut from a document, [n.p.], Feb. 18, 1864, forwarding the document. Shows a small tear at lower right, else very good. WITH: AMASA COBB (1823-1909), signature in black ink on a 4to. album page, Mineral Point, [n.d.], adding: "Col. 43d Regt. W[isconsin] V[olunteer] I[nfantry]..." The album page also bears the autographs of six additional contemporary Congressional representatives. Ragged at the left edge, else very good. WITH: CECIL CLAY (1842-1907), Manuscript L.S., 1p. 4to., Staunton, Dec. 4, 1865, to a Capt. J.E. Johnson, a complaint on behalf of another captain, stating that a stage driver refused to deliver mail from Lexington without extra payment. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Inset into a paper border, shows original folds, else very good. Ten pieces.
