ULYSSES S. GRANT
(1822 - 1885) Eighteenth President of the United States and Union lieutenant general. Partly-printed D.S. 1p. 4to., Washington, Nov. 20, 1867. Grant, as Secretary of War, appoints Col. John A. Campbell as Brevet Lieutenant Colonel "...for gallant and meritorious services during the war, especially in the battle of Franklin, Tenn...". Campbell (1835-1880) joined the Union Army as a publicity writer and was later an adjutant general under John M. Schofield. He later became the first Governor of Wyoming Territory in 1869. Fine condition, expertly matted and archivally framed, ready for display.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
