Description:

(1895 - 1983) SS official who worked in concert with Himmler and Heydrich, was responsible for leading the Einsatzgruppe which committed massacres among the Jewish population in Poland. Hypocritical A.L.S. in German, 10pp. 8vo., Great Britain, Nov. 7, 1945, an ironic complaint about his treatment as an Allied prisoner-of-war, asking for the return of confiscated items. In part: '...Against the promises of the military officers and in spite of many requests...I am still refused access to my following belongings...The English Sergeant assured me that the suitcase would be returned...this did not happen!...I now urgently need these things...Not even mentioning the promises [underlined boldly] , this is also a violation against the international regulations of the Red Cross, whereby personal property is exempt from confiscation...' While some toiletries and clothing items were confiscated, other supposed 'necessities' include: '...1 Honor-Duty (Service) Medal...1 pair brand new high riding boots...2 service hats...2 uniform jackets with SS service medals...General's shoulder pieces, buttons, stars, etc...1 silver teaspoon with monogram...' and more. Woyrsch signs at the conclusion in black ink, adding 'SS-Obergruppenfuhrer and General of Police' and his prisoner number. Fine condition, sold with an English translation. Of course, despite his sudden adherence to 'international regulations' of political prisoners, von Woyrsch oversaw the massacre of hundreds of Polish Jews in 1939, worked with Himmler in northern Germany to send 'inferior races' to concentration camps, and was suitably charged with crimes against humanity at war's end.
