U.S.S. NASSAU OFFICER'S WALLET AND EPAULETTES
Brown leather wallet, 7" x 4", featuring an embossed image of a Pegasus and a snap closure covered with an American Buffalo nickel. The wallet contains eleven identity cards and vouchers, all war-date, issued to Lt. Commander C.H. Stevens. These include Stevens' guest cards for the Officers' Clubs at the Tongue Point and Astoria Naval Air Stations ; the Puget Sound and Philadelphia Navy Yards; and the navy yard at Pearl Harbor. Also included are his tobacco and liquor ration cards, both well-used, a cash voucher for the Pearl Harbor Commissary Store, an admittance card to the Ship's Service Department at Puget Sound, a TWA air travel card, and a temporary pass to the Kaiser Company, Inc. shipyard at Vancouver, which produced Liberty and Victory ships throughout the war. One card identifies Stevens' ship as the escort carrier U.S.S. Nassau, which launched air attacks against Tarawa in October 1944, and conducted patrols and transport duties around Kwajalein, Palau, Ulithi, and the Philippines. Also present are Stevens' epaulettes, bearing the rank of Lt. Commander, each marked on the verso as being supplied by Goodman's Uniform and Equipment Shop in New London, CT. Normal wear from age and use, else very good.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 14 - 21 days for shipments to arrive after receipt of payment due to the high volume of package being shipped.
