Good lot of sixteen books, booklets, pamphlets and magazines, all printed for distribution to U.S. service members deployed overseas during World War II. Includes: "Over Here, Over There", ed. Clyde H. Dennis [Chicago: Good News Publishing], 1943, 32pp. 12mo., a collection of military vignettes with Christian overtones; "Friend or Foe", [n.p., Twelfth Air Force Recognition Training Sction], 1944, 30pp. 12mo., a booklet intended to be issued to each member of the "Mediterranean-Allied Air Forces", providing a means of identifying a wide variety of American, British and German aircraft in service at the time, including most notably the Me-262 jet fighter and the Me-163 rocket-propelled interceptor; "North Africa", 16pp. 12mo., a pamphlet distributed to "all members of United States Expeditionary Forces in North Africa", providing basic guidelines for disease avoidance, cultural expectations among the Muslim civilian population, climate, and interactions with British and French allies; "Japanese: A Guide to the Spoken Language" [Washington, D.C.: War Department], 1943, 62pp 12mo., a basic guide to common Japanese words and phrases, illustrated with descriptive cartoons; "The Nazi State", by William Ebenstein [Washington, D.C.: The Infantry Journal], 1944, 335pp. 8vo., a primer on the National Socialist system of government, printed especially for U.S. service members; "What to do Aboard the Transport: Science from Shipboard", [Washington, D.C.: Science Service and the Infantry Journal], 1943, 268pp. 8vo., a scientific primer available to passengers aboard troop ships on transoceanic crossings, covering oceanic climate, celestial navigation, marine biology, and much else; "The New York Yankees; An Informal History (Armed Services Edition)", by Frank Graham [New York: Editions for the Armed Services, Inc.], 1943, 352pp. oblong 12mo.; "The Middle-Aged Man on the Flying Trapeze (Armed Services Edition), by James Thurber [New York: Editions for the Armed Services, Inc.], 1935, 282pp 12mo.; "G.I. Roundtable: What Shall be Done About Germany After the War?", [n.p.: The American Historical Association], 1944, 24pp. 8vo., a pamphlet examining the postwar denazification of Germany and the reduction of its war industries, intended to be read and discussed by service members; "Going Back to Civilian Life", [Washington, D.C.: War and Navy Departments], 1946, 90pp. oblong 12mo., an explanation of the services available to soldiers as they are mustered out, including Veterans'' Administration and G.I. Bill benefits; and six issue of "TIME" magazine, printed in a smaller "pony" edition for service members abroad. All show expected age wear, with some toning, loose pages, folds and chips, else very good. Sixteen pieces.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
