U.S. MARINES "SOLDIERS OF THE SEA" RECRUITING POSTER
Original World War I recruiting poster, 30" x 40", entitled "U.S. Marines ''Soldiers of the Sea''" and depicting a Marine Corps rifleman and bugler in dress blues, standing at attention on either side of a plinth bearing the Corps'' "eagle-globe-anchor" insignia. At the edges appear sixteen black-and-white photographs, depicting various captioned scenes of Marine Corps life: "A Marine Band", "A Five-Inch Gun Crew", "Off-Duty Aboard a Battleship", "Marines Learning Wireless Telegraphy", "Marines Searching Mexicans for Arms", "Battalion of Marines on Duty at a National Exposition", etc. At bottom appears the exhortation: "For Full Information Apply Recruiting Station". The artist''s name "Leyendecker" appears at the bottom right of the illustration; no publishing information is present. Shows two grommets at top allowing the poster to be suspended for display, with some minor folds, damp stains and foxing, else very good.

Shipping

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
