Description:

Vietnam War-era jacket constructed of white nylon twill, with zippered closure and diagonal slash pockets at each hip. The jacket has been vividly decorated, likely in-country or in Japan, as a souvenir for U.S. Marine personnel serving in Vietnam, and bears a large embroidered patch on the back depicting a hulking soldier with pointed teeth and bloodshot eyes, clutching a rifle with bloodied butt in one hand, and a small figure with a bleeding mouth by the hair in the other hand. This figure is labeled "V C ", for Viet Cong. Above this patch appears the title "U.S. Marines" embroidered in red thread, while beneath the image is similarly embroidered: "Viet Nam 1966-67-68". The sleeves bear fourteen embroidered patches overall, with the right-hand sleeve listing the locations to which the recipient has been deployed, including Hawaii, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Guam, and Vietnam. The left-hand sleeve lists six regions of deployment within Vietnam: Da Nang, Chu Lai, Dong Ha, "DMZ" ("Demilitarized Zone"), Phu Bai, and "Khe Sahn" (sic). The interior of the jacket bears no labels. Shows some exterior soiling, else very good.
