Description:

U.S. INFORMATION SERVICE POSTER PROMOTED THE UNITED STATES IN CHINA, 1953
Rare pre-war poster promoting the benefits of the United States to those living in China. The poster was prepared by the General Drafting Company, New York and shows the location of the most commonly found natural resources and agricultural products, as well as notable buildings and tourist sites throughout the U.S. Other maps show rail systems, major roads, and rivers. The entire map is labeled in Chinese, with a full description at lower-right. An ink stamp at top reads in English "WITH COMPLIMENTS OF U.S. INFORMATION SERVICE PEIPING" with apparently a Chinese translation. A few chips at margins and fold splits repaired, else very good. Although undated, it is obvious this map pre-dates the Japanese invasion and was intended to tout the marvels and riches of the United States. From a single collection obtained entirely in China pre-2000.
