Description:

Good lot of three World War I-era propaganda posters, each advertising the United States Food Administration, which was tasked with managing the food reserves of the U.S. Army and its allies in Europe during the conflict, as well as enforcing rationing and donations of materials on the home front. Includes:full-color poster, 19 1/2" x 30", illustrated with a vibrant image of an immigrant ship passing the Statue of Liberty, above the title: "Food Will Win the War". It continues: "You came here seeking Freedom. You must now help preserve it. WHEAT is needed for the Allies. Waste nothing". The insignia and the title of the Food Administration appears at bottom, above the publishing tine of a New York lithography company. Shows folds and mounting remnants to the verso, else very good. WITH: Full-color poster, 21 1/4" x 29 1/2", a vibrant depicting of hanging bunches and baskets of produce, surrounding the message: "This is what God gives us. What are your giving so that others may live? Eat less: Wheat - Meat - Fats - Sugar. Send more to Europe or they will Starve". The title "United States Food Administration" appears at bottom, above a publishing line indicating that it was produced by the Edward & Deutsch Lithography Co. of Chicago. Shows bumps to the edges and mounting remnants to the verso, else very good. WITH: Monochrome poster, 20" x 30", illustrated with a woodcut image of a refugee scene in Europe. Below appears the message: "War Rages in France. They cannot fight & raise food at the same time. Denying ourselves only a little means Life to them. We Must Feed Them". The title and insignia of the Food Administration appears at bottom. Very good. Three pieces.

Shipping

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
