Good lot of three items signed by notable U.S. combat aviators of World War II, includes: S.P., 8" x 10" b/w, a group photo of the pilots of Marine fighter squadron VMF-214, the famous "Black Sheep" signed by three of its aces: EDWIN OLANDER (1917-2008), ROBERT MCCLURG (1919-2007), and JOHN BOLT (1921-2004), each in ink beneath their images. Fine. WITH: ROBERT MORGAN (1918-2004), pilot of the B-17 "Memphis Belle", famous as the subject of a documentary and war bond drives. I.S.P., 8" x 10" b/w, a group shot of the crew of the "Memphis Belle" with the aircraft and its namesake, Morgan's sweetheart Margaret Polk. Morgan signs in black ink at top right, adding an indistinct dedication and "Best wishes". Fine. WITH: MARION E. CARL (1915-1998), the first U.S. Marine Corps flying ace of World War II, later a record-setting test pilot. I.S.P, 8" x 10" b/w, a view of Carl before the Douglas D-558/I Skystreak in which he set the world speed record for conventionally-powered aircraft, which would stand until broken along with the sound barrier by Chuck Yeager. Carl signs in black ink at bottom left, adding the dedication "To Ashley T. Cole With the Best of Wishes" and his rank "Lt. Col. USMC". At lower right he also adds: "650.8 mph - 25 Aug. 1947 in Douglas Skystreak Muroc Dry Lake - Calif." Fine. Three pieces.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
