Description:

U.S. ARMY SOLDIERS REAL PHOTO POSTCARDS (40)
Fine lot of forty World War I-era real photo postcards, each approx. 3.5 x 5.5 in. b/w, each an individual portrait of a United States Army soldier in uniform. The group features both officers and enlisted men, showing a wide variety of uniforms, headgear and accouterments, valuable to historians and collectors of the conflict. Notable examples include a view of two soldiers in M1917 helmets with Springfield M1903 rifles, one with a gas mask at ready; a helmeted soldier with an M1917 rifle, standing before a stack of duckboards; a soldier with an M1903 rifle and bayonet, standing before a barracks; a soldier in front of a barracks with a Krag-Jorgensen rifle over his shoulder; two soldiers demonstrating bayonet thrusts with M1917 rifles; two officers mock-fighting with bayonets; and more. Eight are inscribed on the verso, the remainder blank. Six show mounting remnants, and some show minor bumps to the corners or small folds, otherwise in very good condition overall.
