Good lot of six items signed by notable U.S. Army Generals, includes: SAMUEL HOF (1870-1937) U.S. Army Chief of Ordnance. Good content T.L.S., 4pp. 4to., Washington, D.C., Aug. 12, 1930, to Henry E. Barbour, concerning appropriations for the purchase of armored vehicles produced by J. Walter Christie. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds and a paperclip mark at top left, else very good. WITH: JOHN L. DEWITT (1880-1962) Quartermaster General, best known for his vocal advocacy for interning Japanese-American citizens during World War II. T.L.S., 1p. 8vo., May 24, 1930, to California congressman Henry E. Barbour, transmitting a copy of the "Quartermaster Review" (not present). He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows an original mailing fold, else very good. WITH: WILLIAM R. SMITH (1868-1941) Major General, commander of the 36th Infantry Division during World War I. T.L.S. as Superintendent of West Point, 1p. 4to., West Point, Jan. 7, 1929, to Henry E. Barbour, transmitting a selection of images of the military academy (not present). (1867“1944) U.S. Army Quartermaster General and superintendent of Arlington National Cemetery, in which capacity he supervised the construction of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
