Description:

U.S. ARMY 41ST INFANTRY DIVISION UNIFORM
A prewar-style U.S. winter-weight uniform tunic, constructed of olive-drab wool. The left-hand shoulder bears an embroidered felt depicting the insignia of the U.S. Army's 41st Infantry Division, a setting sun, over a faded red embroidered felt discharge chevron, with an overseas duty patch featuring one metallic gold ribbon chevron at the left-hand cuff. The collar displays a ‘U S' screwback insignia disk on the right-hand side, with an infantryman's collar disk with the company letter ‘B' at left. The uniform is closed at front with four sewn-on darkened brass buttons depicting the U.S. seal, maker-marked ‘Am. Button Co. Newark N.J.' on the reverse, with a fifth button missing. Four flap-covered patch pockets are sewn at the breast and waist, the flaps of each secured with smaller darkened brass buttons on the reverse. Two similar buttons secure the tapered shoulder straps. A partial fabric label identifying the maker as Siegel Bros. & Goodman of New York is sewn within the right-hand waist pocket. The coat is unlined, with a few moth nips apparent overall and the right-hand breast pocket button loose, otherwise in very good condition overall. The tunic is accompanied by a pair of olive-drab wool calf-length trousers, with reinforced thighs and lace-up cuffs. A cloth Boston Quartermaster's Depot label sewn to the exterior of one hip pocket identifies the maker as the A. J. Waterman Mfg. Co. of Portland, Maine. In very good to fine condition overall.
