Description:

TUPAC SHAKUR''S GOLD AND DIAMOND "CROWN" MEDALLION
An especially evocative and important Shakur relic, an octagonal gold medallion, approx. 1 3/4" x 1 1/2", with a crown in bas relief at center highlighted throughout with small diamonds, with more diamonds bordering the piece overall. Most notably, the bottom edge of the medallion is distorted and bent from being struck with great force. Several of the diamonds along the edge, and one from the crown design, are missing as a result. The medallion can be seen - undamaged - in the music video for Shakur''s single "How Do U Want It?", as well as in footage of Shakur from a mid-1990s Soul Train awards show. It is our belief that the damage visible on the medallion was caused by a bullet strike, and this is borne out by an analysis by two experts on bullet-struck items from military conflicts. Our consignor notes: "A born leader, Tupac adored all jewelry with crowns.Tupac can be seen wearing this pendant after his release from jail, at the Soul Train awards, and in the "How Do You Want It" video. Consigned by an intimate friend and relative of Tupac Shakur who was also personally mentored by the great rapper. The consignor remains very active in the music and film industry. His signed and notarized letter of provenance accompanies this item.
