Description:

677. ROBERT TROUP (1757-1832) American soldier, lawyer and jurist, a lieutenant colonel and an aide to Horatio Gates who also participated in the surrender of Burgoyne at Saratoga. Scarce A.L.S. 1p. Legal folio, [New York, Feb. 12, 1796], to NICHOLAS LOW (1739-1826) American merchant and ardent supporter of the Revolution who was later a New York delegate to the Constitutional Convention and who dockets the document on verso. Troup expresses his opinion that stock must be transferred to a company, adding: "The Mayor has them under consideration and will send them to me in the morning..." Seal tear at right margin affects one word, folds and marginal toning, yet overall remains very good with a large, bold signature. $200-300
