Description:

A true rarity, incomparable in its scope, a World War II-era German top-level general or leader's personal handwritten telephone book filled with the numbers of the most important personages and organizations of the Third Reich. Regrettably, we have been unable to identify the handwriting, which has been added to by the owner and perhaps a very few others, but the content is amazing. Many entries include multiple numbers for the same individual, including home, office, and secondary residences. Among those listed is Adolf Hitler, whose numbers at Munich and Berchtesgaden are listed, Himmler, Goring, Rommel, Bouhler, Bormann, Bruckner, Daluege, Darre, Frauenfeld, Freisler, Hans Frank, Frick, Funk, Goebbels, Heinrich Hoffmann, Gurtner, all of the Gauleiters, Hildebrand, Hess, Jahn, Kerrl, Krebs, Lorenz, Lohse, Langer, von Schirach Rosenberg, Rust,Wolff, Ribbentrop, Grawitz, Speer, Scholz-Klink, Schaub, Schacht, von Trotha, Todt, and dozens more. Virtually every organization is listed as well, and only the smallest sampling includes the Gestapo, Liebstandarte-SS, NSKK, NSDAP, NSKOV, NSK, all of the ministry offices, Reichsbank, Reichsbahn, Hitler Youth, press and radio offices, Kriegsmarine, Berlin airports and airfields, and even hotels and the numbers of prominent actors and actresses. This 6 ½" x 8 ½" book is plainly bound is black cloth and is tabbed alphabetically. There are several hundred entries, almost all in ink " many were done were numbers were transferred into this book, and as mentioned above, many were added as time passed. Interestingly, at some point this book fell into the hands of the British, as there are a few pages of notes referencing "Br. H.Q." and some cryptic company assignments also indicated. We assume this book helped the British locate and arrest German officers and administrators at war's end. The book's covers are a bit worn, contents are in excellent condition and beg for detailed, concerted research.
