Description:

TOKYO ROSE TRIAL PHOTOS AND NEGATIVES
A fine grouping of 28 original 5" x 4" negatives and four photographs developed therefrom, from the famous 1949 treason trial of Iva Toguri D'Aquino (1916-2006), charged with eight counts of treason for her propaganda broadcasts to Allied soldiers. The images show Toguri entering court, conferring with her attorneys, at the defense table, etc. Fine condition. Interestingly, in 1974, investigative journalists found key witnesses had lied during testimony and other serious problems with the conduct of the trial. Toguri was pardoned by Gerald Ford in 1977, becoming the only U.S. citizen convicted of treason to be pardoned.
