Lot 115
Description:
115. TITANIC SURVIVOR'S TELEGRAM A superlative Titanic relic, a brief telegram written from aboard the rescue ship, Carpathia, penned by a survivor of the sinking of the Titanic telling a friend or relative of the survivor's salvation! The text is written on a Marconi International Marine Communication Co. form, [Apr. 18, 1912], reading in part: "Garside `Oldshields' Ardleigh Essex England Safe. Ethel". The sender was Ethel Garside, a second-class passenger. She was not charged, as the telegram is stamped "NOT TRANSMITTED" likely due to the vessel's arrival in port. Near fine.
