Description:

(1779 - 1852) Irish poet, singer, and entertainer, best remembered for the lyrics of 'The Minstrel Boy' and 'The Last Rose of Summer'. He was responsible, with John Murray, for burning Lord Byron's memoirs after his death. Fine content A.L.S. 'T. Moore', 2pp. 4to. with integral address leaf, [Ireland, Feb. 9, 1813] to 'Mr. Power' in London, most likely his publisher, William Power, sending works for publication and contemplating his future in writing. In part: '...I shall have a pretty large packet to send tomorrow for Lady Donegall...I should have sent you the music of 'the brilliant black eye' on Friday [his 'Black and Blue Eyes']...By sending Carpenter these trifles to get published had had our good effect...I have sent the last of the new squibs & I think they ought to do...From the State of my Poem, and the industry I mean to carry it on with this year, I think we need out look to a more distant period than next year 1814 for the commencement of our Book. Concern - as the Poem...will be the last thing I shall put out of our own hands...I should like, therefore...to make the Dictionary of Music my object this year...I write [this] in bed, where I have stand to work, as they are washing down stairs...'vSoiled a bit with a few spots, a seal tear in blank area, and a pencil mark near signature which could be erased easily, else very good.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
