THOMAS L. MCKENNEY
(1785-1858), a Georgetown merchant who was appointed Superintendent of Indian Affairs in 1816 by Madison and served well into the Jackson administration. During his tenure, he authored the monumental 3-volume History of the Indian Tribes. His scarce old-age signature "Col. Thos L. McKenney" on a 3" x 1 3/4" card mounted to a yellow slip with a note of provenance: "The above autograph of Col McKenney was written February 27th 1858 at the advanced age of One Hundred and four years." Very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
