THOMAS A. EDISON
(1847 - 1931) American inventor of the electric light, phonograph, typewriter, and microphone, to name a few. Considered perhaps the greatest inventor of the century. Important partly-printed D.S. signed twice, 1p. 8vo., New Jersey, June 26, 1888, a stock certificate from the Edison Photographic Works in which Edison issues 41 and 166/1000 shares in the company to himself! Signed by him at bottom, and additionally on verso Signed while Edison was at work on his most important invention, the two-way telegraph, for which Edison was given a patent in 1892. In 1888, Edison was also developing the kinetoscope or peep-hole viewer. He applied for a patent in October 1888, claiming the invention would "do for the eye what the phonograph does for the ear". Very light toning to edges, otherwise very good to near fine condition.
