Description:

THIRD REICH KRIEGSMARINE ENLISTED SERVICE TUNIC
Kriegsmarine enlisted service tunic, dark blue wool construction, double-breasted and bearing two rows five decorative brass Kriegsmarine fouled anchor buttons at front closure. Tunic bears two black rayon lined slash pockets, left and right bearing square pattern buttonless closure flaps The right breast bears a machine embroidered Kriegsmarine breast eagle which is hand-sewn to the tunic, the left sleeve bears two rank insignia patches, a small gold star rating badge, signifying a rating of deck seaman, and a double chevron insignia patch with two gold tresse stripes indicating a rank of Matrosenobergefreiter (Seaman 1st class). Both rank insignia patches are hand-sewn to the sleeve. Also present are two sets of award loops set low on the left breast. The interior of the left sleeve bears black ink stamps denoting the jacket's size and year of manufacture. The collar is heavily stitched showing a 'locker loop' inside the rear of collar, and is adorned with two lighter blue, blank collar tabs machine sewn to the collar, that indicates two years of time-in-service. Tunic is lined in blue wool material, but bears no sewn-on manufacture's tag as typically seen on an officer's tunic. Both sleeves are lined with grey rayon, and two horizontal slash pockets appear inside of each breast. Fine condition, with no structural defects present, although there is some loss to wool backing of the embroidered breast eagle due to mothing. An excellent used example.
