Description:

THEODORE "TED" BUNDY "CONFESSION" GROUPING
A grouping of items accumulated by New Jersey Baptist Rev. G. R. Fisher, including an incredible letter from Bundy setting forth his religious beliefs and citing scripture. Fisher was among the religious figures who attempted to convince Bundy to confess to all of his crimes as the first execution date drew near. The pastor first studied Bundy's case, and included are three of his small notes, the first containing comments such as "Accomplished shoplifter at 21" and "Studied and wrote on Rape Prevention". The second, an index card, contains the pastor's notes on each of Bundy's known victims with entries such as what school each girl attended, the year they vanished, what car Bundy drove, and where remains were found: "Skull at Taylor Mtn....Skulls at Issaquah..." A third list includes books on the Bundy murders. Also present are copies of several publications, one annnotated by the pastor re: several murders. On May 8, 1986 Fisher wrote Bundy: "...I want to say that I sympathize with the fear and panic you must feel at times...Secondly, the other purpose in my writing is to plead with you, as you face your own death, to make a full confession to God and the authorities..." Included is Bundy's incredible response, written ten months later, 2pp. 4to., and signed "Ted". In part: "... Thank you for your kind letter...It showed that someone cared and for a person in my position, that was so important...with the number of death warrants signed against me in 1986, it was a very busy and trying year...There is a reason why I am still alive. God is not finished with me yet...words cannot express my gratitude to Him for sending his son to die even for me. I have committed my life into his hands. Whatever happens, it will be according to His will...Please keep me in your Prayers...In peace, Ted John 8:36"Finally included is the pastor's response, asking Bundy for specific details about his professed conversion to Christianity and if he will confess to clear up unsolved murders. No response from Bundy was forthcoming. Bundy's Bible cittaion? "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. "
