THEODORE 'DUTCH' VAN KIRK
(b. 1921) American Army Air Corps officer, navigator of the Enola Gay during its mission to Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Superb S.P. 10" x 8" color photo of the Enola Gay with a lengthy caption in his hand: "The first atomic bomb dropped from 30,600 feet. It exploded 43 seconds later, about 1800 feet above the ground. The city of Hiroshima was devastated, but millions of lives - Japanese and Allied - were saved. Days later the war ended and the killing stopped. Dutch Van Kirk Navigator - Enola Gay Hiroshima - 6 Aug 1945" Very fine.
