THEODOR EICKE
(1892 - 1943) Infamous commander of Dachau, Eicke encouraged his concentration camp staff to live up to their death's head symbol and treat Dachau's prisoners with 'inflexible harshness', fittingly killed on the Eastern Front. Fine content D.S., 2pp. large 4to., Oranienburg, Oct. 29, 1938, a list of important ttransfers of high-ranking SS personnel. In part: For official reasons, I apply with effective on 15.11.38. to make the following personnel changes...SS-Standartenführer Reich, Otto...his position as leader of the SS-T.-Standard Brandenburg' is dismissed and he is appointed leader of the 4th SS-T.-Standard 'Ostmark" moved to Linz...SS-Standartenführer Nostiz, Paul...is dismissed as leader of the 3.SS-T.-Standard 'Thuringia' and appointed leader SS-T.-Standard 'Brandenburg' moved to Oranienburg...SS-Sturmbannführer Hierthes, Heimo...his position as leader of the I/3.SS-T.-Standard 'Thuringia' is dismissed and on a trial basis for a tour with the 3rd SS-T.-Standard 'Thuringia'...', with other transfers mentioning Walter Bellwidt, Kurt Albert, Gerhard Mayer, Herman Brandt, and Paul-Werner Hoppe. Hoppe is named to the staff of the concentration camp administration. He would be commandant of Stutthof concentration camp from September 1942 until April 1945. Boldly signed in indelible pencil, file holes else fine condition.
