Lot 1656
THE SEX PISTOLS STEVE JONES(b. 1955) British guitarist and co-founder of the Sex Pistols. A great Sex Pistols item, guitarist Steve Jones' own framed copy of a 43" x 33" limited edition lithograph titled "God Save the Queen" by artist Jamie Reid who also signs in pencil and dates the image 1999. The poster pictures Queen Elizabeth II with a banner across her eyes reading "God Save the Queen" with "Sex Pistols" on a similar banner across her mouth and a mis-colored Union Jack in the background. Signed by Jones on the glass and accompanied by a T.L.S. from him, 1p. 4to., Los Angeles, May, 1999. In full: "I, Steve Jones, guitar player of the Sex Pistols, am the owner of this God Save the Queen poster". Two pieces, both very good to fine. The Sex Pistol's song "God Save the Queen", perhaps the most iconic punk song of all time, was banned from airplay throughout the U.K.
