THE HANCOCK FAMILY
A collection of 16 manuscript documents, 1732 - 1786 accomplished by or concerning various members of the Hancock family of Boston. Includes nine documents relative to John Hancock's uncle and surrogate father, Thomas Hancock (1702 - 1764) including his 1754 tax bill for which he was assessed £49-6-4 by the province and £111-0-1 by the town and county. The other documents concern various accounts with Joshua Emmes, Henry Emmes, Eleazer Burt, Nathaniel Glover, William Kent, Samuel Grafton, and Stephen Welcome. One document, a promissory note, 1p. Sept. 17, 1743 appear to be directed toward John Hancock's father, the Rev. John Hancock (1702 - 1744). Another promissory note, 1p. Boston, Dec. 15, 1762 is directed to the Signer and signed by James Day Jr. who is identified on the document as a "Mariner at Glouster." Other documents concern other members of the Hancock family including Capt. William Hancock of Boston (including an A.D.S. feb. 27, 1749), Capt. Jonathan Hancock, and Ebenezer Hancock. Sixteen pieces bearing the usual folds with minor separations, light soiling, overall very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
