THE GREAT ESCAPE: ALLIED POW "KRIEGIE" TAG FROM STALAG LUFT III
Excellent World War II relic, a genuine 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" stamped metal POW tag worn by an Allied prisoner at the infamous Stalag Luft III. Stammlager Luft III (Permanent Camp for Airmen #3) was located near Sagan [Poland] and run by the Luftwaffe. The camp guards fell victim to the heroic Great Escape" of allied prisoners in March of 1944, a feat that became immortalized in the eponymous book and movie. This tag, machine-stamped "5600 Kgf. Lg. Nr. 3 d. Lw" was brought home by an American soldier after being released. From the personal collection of World War II and Civil War historian Michael Miner. Miner's thirty-year collection was built through an extensive system of contacts he developed with artifact hunters and diggers in Europe and the Far East, and he maintained careful records of the items he amassed.

Shipping

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
