1555. THE DEATH OF WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART The death of Mozart as reported in The Gentleman's Magazine from April 1792, London, pp. 290-392, 8vo., in titled wraps, later bound into gilt titled calf boards with marbled pastedowns. A brief report in the obituaries section (apparently the assassination of King Gustavus of Sweden was stealing away the headlines), which reads in full: "1791 Dec. 15. In his 36th year, the celebrated John Chrysostom Wolfgang Theophilus Mozart, Maestro de Capella to the Imperial Court of Vienna; whose very early and uncommon musical talents are described the Hon. Danies Barrington, in the 'Philosophical Transactions,' Vol. LX He was born at Saltsborg, Jan. 17, 1756". Very fine condition. $300 - 400
