Lot 1645
THE BEATLES A terrific vintage-signed Beatles photo, a Parlophone Records heavy stock 1962 photo of the band bearing fine contemporary ink signatures on the verso: "John Lennon", "Paul McCartney", "George Harrison" and "Ringo Starr". The photo has a bit of history to it: George Harrison had encouraged the others to replace Pete Best, their drummer at the time, with Ringo, and had even visited Ringo's parents in order to determine if this was likely. When Pete Best was officially replaced by Ringo on Aug. 16, George was given a black eye by an annoyed fan. Careful scrutiny of the photo reveals his "shiner", and the upside-down guitar is said to express the band's unhappiness with the entire affair. The photo bears creases and a few tiny tears at top, the signed verso is quite clean and overall very good. With Frank Caiazzo letter of authenticity, the most trusted in the field.
