THE BATTLE OF LITTLE BIG HORN Rare imprint 13pp., 8vo, 1876, an important official military printing containing notice of those killed and missing at the Battle of Little Big Horn, and promotions to fill positions held by each. In part: "The following promotions and appointments in the Army of the United States, made by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, since the publication of General Orders No. 26, of April 1, 1876, and No. 55, of July 1, 1876, and up to July 25, 1876 are announced..". Of particular note is the listing of officers who have died (in the service or otherwise), which lists those killed "in action with Sioux Indians on Little Big Horn River, Montana Territory: Lieutenant George A. Custer, Captain Myles W. Keogh, Captain George W. Yates, Captain Thomas W. Custer...". Removed from a bound volume; binding stab-holes, punch-holes. Circular receiving stamp of 21st Infantry, Post Fort Vancouver, August 9, 1876. The first such example of this imprint we've seen. 400 - 500
