Description:

Scarce antique publication, "The Annual Register, or a View of the History, Politics, and Literature, for the Year 1776", Vol. 19 [London: J. Dodsley], 1788, Fourth Edition, presenting a great deal of period reportage and analysis related to the events of the day, with a great deal of page space devoted to granular descriptions of the events of the American Revolution. Most notably, the volume reprints the Declaration of Independence in its entirety, followed by an early version of the Articles of Confederation, dated October 4, 1776 at Philadelphia, which was adopted by the original thirteen states to serve as their first Constitution. This volume is also accompanied by the "Annual Register" for the years 1758 (ninth edition, printed 1795); 1760 (seventh edition, printed 1789); 1761 (seventh edition, printed 1800); 1762 (fifth edition, printed 1787); 1763 (seventh edition, printed 1796); 1764 (fifth edition, printed 1802); 1765 (third edition, printed 1802); 1768 (sixth edition, printed 1800); 1774 (second edition, printed 1778); and 1775 (sixth edition, printed 1801). Together these volumes present an even more detailed picture of the events leading up to the Revolutionary War, accompanied again by the most pertinent document and biographies of the central figures of the time. All are bound in brown leather boards, and show library deaccession labels and stamps, very good overall. Eleven volumes in total, should be seen.
