TANIT GODDESS STATUE
A rare example (of a Terracotta figure of Tanit with faint traces of black delineations of facial features and hair, measuring 6 1/2" tall. She was the mysterious Virgin Goddess of the Heaven and the Moon, adopted by the Phoenicians as Protectress of the city of Carthage, upon its founding. This statue was excavated at an ancient factory site near Tyre and is dated circa 600 BC. With detached stand, very good condition.
