SYDNEY GREENSTREET
(1879 - 1954) British actor who often portrayed a villain, he was most prominent in The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca. Typed D.S. 2pp. 4to., Burbank, June 27, 1944. Shortly after completing The Mask of Demetrios, Greenstreet received a letter from Warner Brothers regarding his contract for Hollywood Canteen, which stipulates, among other things: "...a week rate of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars...". Hollywood Canteen aimed to bolster morale on the home front during the War, and was completed and released in 1944. Boldly signed in bright green ink on concluding page, staple holes at top left corner, very good condition.
