Knight Company case, which significantly limited the powers of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. Voted with the majority in Plessy v. Ferguson. A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., Washington, June 18, 1907, on black-bordered mourning letterhead to an autograph seeker: ‘…I regret that I have no letter or document that I can send you…'. With the original envelope. Together with STEPHEN W. FIELD (1816-1899) Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, the longest serving member until his record was surpassed by William O. Douglas: bold signature on the verso of his calling card, adding ‘Associate Justice Supreme Court Washington, Mar. 4, 1899'; ABRAHAM FORTAS (1910-1982) Associate Justice remembered for his role in creating the United Nations. Signature on his imprinted card; ARTHUR J. GOLDERG (1908-1990) Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and labor representative. Signature on his imprinted card; and JOHN M. HARLAN II (1899-1971) Associate Justice, a member of the conservative Warren Court. T.L.S. on his letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington, Jan. 22, 1957, sending his autograph. Five pieces, very good.
