JOHN SULLIVAN (1740-1795) American Revolution major general captured at Long Island and exchanged, he later wintered at Valley Forge, and was abandoned by D'Estaing to face the British at Newport. A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Durham, Feb. 2, 1787, in part: "...I send you a copy of the Resolve of the general Court...I beg the favor of you to have it renewed that I have the opp'ty to notify the Def't to appear...that I may then file a Complaint & have affirmation..." Chipped at margins with minor loss to descenders of "J" and "S", folds and a few repaired tears, good. $150-200
