Description:

A very unusual Third Reich presentation item, a cut-glass plaque set atop a mirrored backing in a wood frame, 10 1/2" x 14 3/4", naming Adolf Hitler an honorary citizen of the small Thuringian village of Stutzerbach. The red pane of glass features an incised depiction of a mountain scene beneath the dedication to Hitler, with the date "1933" and the seals of Stutzerbach and Thuringia flanking the facsimile signatures of two officials at bottom. Around the edges appears the motto: "May God's blessing continue to be effective for our homeland, greatness and well-being!" Notably absent from this presentation, given the identity of the recipient, is that most omnipresent German symbol of the era, the swastika. The mirrored backing shows some flaking to the bottom left edge, and the sides and reverse of the wood frame shows some adhesive residue which has caused old foam from a storage case to adhere, else very good.
