1587. RICHARD STRAUSS (1864-1949) German composer of fifteen operas, including Salome, Der Rosenkavalier and Also sprach Zarathustra. Excellent, early candid S.P., 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" sepia showing the composer in a full-length outdoor standing pose, signed in blue ink at bottom. Mounted to an album page captioned: "Dr. Richard Strauss the day after the first performance of Electra at Covent Garden". A couple of tiny white spots in bottom of image, else fine. Sold with a second album page bearing similar images of Strauss with a group of people, obviously taken the same day. $300-400
