Description:

STEPHEN GIRARD
(1750 - 1831) American businessman and philanthropist whose bank took over the business of the Bank of the United States and who helped finance the War of 1812. L.S. 1p. 4to., Philadelphia, Feb. 10, 1821 to Capt. Samuel Erwin aboard the vessel North America. Girard mentions that he has received the captain's letter and is pleased that the weather in New Castle is good. He urges caution that no fire break out, and hopes to visit the vessel at his wharf, if no further risk must be taken, likely due to ice which he mentions at the close of his letter. Some uneven toning, else very good.

Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
