Stanford White 1853-1906 American architect and designed of Madison Square Garden, murdered by Harry K. Thaw for carrying on an affair with Thaws wife. T.L.S. on letterhead of McKim, Mead & White, 1p. 8vo , New York, May 28,1890 to R.W. Gilder. In part: "...[11 shall be happy to be present at the laying of the corner stone of Washington Memorial arch on Memorial Day... " This arch is today a prominent landmark in Washington Square in lower Manhattan. Very good.
