Description:

SS WEHRPASS OF A GUARD AT LITZMANNSTADT, BUCHENWALD AND FLOSSENBURG
Scarce and important wehrpass and SS-Uberwachungscarte (or personnel card) issued to SS-Scharfuhrer Otto Zielonka, born in Upper Silesia on July 27, 1912. The wehrpass was issued on Dec. 16, 1940 in Kattowitz and Zielonka's photo shows him wearing and SS overseas cap with side eagle and vertical skull collar tab. He first served on Nov. 28, 1939 with 7/10 SS-Totenkopf Litzmannstadt - about the same time that the Jewish ghetto there was established, where he remained for almost eight months. On Mar. 30, 1940 he was with II/10 SS-Totenkopf Buchenwald. After a brief stay at the SS facilities in Dachau and with a Sanitats Batallion in Prague, Zielonka was assigned to the SS-HFVA in Berlin until June, 1944. One interesting note shows separation pay from Sonder Batallion SS-Totekopf Prag, Feb. 7, 1941. This unit guarded Flossenburg sub-camp Hradistko and is was charged with the murder of 120 prisoners there. Zielonka's personnel card reiterates much of the information found in the wehrpass. The Wehrpass bears moderate to heavy water damage, primarily to the covers and first few pages, the personnel card is scorched and stained. More details upon request.
