Description:

SS TREATED IN HOSPITAL AT DACHAU
A rare pair of documents, 1p. 4to. each, concerning the treatment of SS Rottenfuhrer Johann Dirmeier at the hospital within the Dachau concentration camp. The first, dated Berlin, March 4, 1938, is signed by the chief of the SS Health Council, Friedrich Karl Dermeitzel, and reports: "...To the troop doctor of the I/SS...After we proofed the case regarding the invalidity, reduction of earning capacity and entitlement to maintenance we herewith return the files to troop doctor...related to the process of the release of SS-Rottenführer Hans Diermeier of the 3/SS...It is determined by us, that the release of Dirmeier took place in due term...because of his chronic stomach catarrh from an old inflammation of his pancreas. So he is just partly usable....A further medical treatment is not necessary. We recommend a medical review in two years...". However, one year later on May 2, 1939, the 27-year-old Johann Diermeier is admitted to the St. Barbara-Hospital at Dachau diagnosed with: "Incisional hernia in the upper abdomen..." from an old injury, and had an operation for it on May 6, 1939. Signed in pencil by one of the SS leaders at Dachau. Light wear, very good.
