Description:

SS LIEBSTANDARTE ADOLF HITLER LETTER GROUPING (10)
A group of 10 letters written by Hans Uscha Tydecks, a training leader in the first platoon of the elite Panzerdivision SS Liebstandartre. The LSSAH was formed by Ernst Rohm in 1923 as the bodyguard unit, and, ten years later, Himmler designated it as a National Socialist unit which eventually became the Panzerdivision of the Waffen SS. As such, it is remembered for perpetrating numerous atrocities and war crimes, including the Malmedy massacre. The group comprises nine A.L.S. dating from 1940 through 194?, when Tydecks was a prisoner of war of the U.S., and one T.L.S., all written to his wife Lotti Tydecks in Roedekke. The A.Ls.S. are finely and sometimes faintly penned and untranslated. The T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Nuemunster, Dec. 6, 1941 reads, in small part: '...Unfortunately, I didn't get to write yesterday. You can imagine how it works when you get 200 new men...At 2 a.m....the work started...In the evening around 10 p.m. we could finally go to bed. This morning we continued at the same pace...Time just flies for me...I believe we will have a little more time in 8 days...Meanwhile the sheet music has arrived here...'. Together with a small candid photograph of Tydecks in uniform looking tenderly at his wife. Very good condition, and worthy of further research.
