Description:

SS FILE OF KNIGHTS CROSS RECIPIENT, SS OFFICER VINZENZ KAISER
VINZENZ KAISER (1904-1945) was an SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer and Knights Cross with Oak Leaves recipient who joined the SS in 1927. After participating in the Anschluss, Kaiser''s regiment was absorbed into the "Das Reich" division. While in Russia, he led in the counterattacks on the Donetz and Dnjepr sectors, single-handedly destroying four tanks. Kaiser then served in Hungary and on the Italian coast, before being relocated to Normandy to resist the American drive across France and Germany. Captured, he was beaten and shot in American captivity. Outstanding archive of documents concerning Kaiser, particularly relating to his service in the SS, includes 22 separate documents, 28 pages of text, dating from 1934 to Sep. 20, 1943. Four of the documents, mainly biographical forms, are signed by Kaiser. Included are SS summaries of his service, SS entry biography, another biography bearing a photo, background questionnaires, personnel assessment, documents related to his work at the SS relief organization ("hilfswerk") and political schooling at Dachau, promotion recommendations, transfers, leadership course record, approval of his engagement and wedding, etc. Documents are signed by multiple SS officers, unidentified, who should be researched. Overall very good.
