Description:

SS EM/NCO BELT BUCKLE BY F.W. ASSMANN
Very rare and well used SS EM/NCO Belt Buckle by Assmann, die-stamped magnetic steel, painted in olive field green, possibly for tropical use, maker marked '155/40' and flanked by the RZM logo to left, as well as the SS runes on right, indicating manufacture by F.W. Assmann of Lüdenscheid. Later 1940 production after Assmann moved the location of the maker mark from leading edge to rear under the roller bar. Buckle measures 66 mm x 49 mm. Affixed with original black leather tab embossed with the maker's oval logo for 'E. Schneider, Lüdenscheid' and dated '1940'. Roller bar featuring the proper aluminum prongs, with tab perfectly applied to buckle, showing tight stitching and undoubtedly original to the buckle. Showing honest wear with some oxidation. This buckle from the John Telesmanich collection. Rare painted example with leather tab. Very good.
