Description:

HANS LAMMERS (1879 - 1962) Minister and Chief of the Reich Chancellery, ordered arrested by Hitler in the final days, and ultimately sentenced to twenty years imprisonment for war crimes. A fine personal relic of Lammers, his SS officer's belt, 44 1/2" x 1 3/4", of black-finished brown leather. A small paper label is affixed to the inside of the belt beneath the tongue, reading: "Lammers, Hans-Heinrich, Dr./Reichsmin. u. Chef d. Reichskanzlei/W 35 Von-der-heydt-Str. 18". The belt is fitted with a fine example of an aluminum SS officer's belt buckle manufactured by Overhoff & Cie. of Ludenschied, marked on the catch with that manufacturer's "OLC" mark, and RZM mark, the maker's RZM number '36/38", and the "sig" runes of the SS. Each of the two rivets securing the aluminum clasp on the opposite end of the belt are marked "14/8". The belt is also fitted with a black-finished brown leather shoulder strap, approx. 46" (adjustable), attached to the belt with two black leather sliders, to which are secured two pebbled metal spring clips. Each clip is stamped with the "A" logo of maker Assmann, along with "DRGM", an RZM mark and the designation "UE8". The strap itself is RZM-marked "318/36" with SS runes, and the pebbled metal adjustment buckle is RZM-marked "M 5/8". The reverse of the strap also bears a minute paper label, simply reading "Lammers" in the same front as the label described above. Both leather pieces show light creases overall commensurate with use, while the metal fittings of the shoulder strap show slight oxidation, else very good. The belt and strap originate from the same source as Lammer's SS overcoat, sold by us in May of 2019
