HUGO SPERRLE (1885 - 1953) German field marshal of the Luftwaffe during World War II, captured by the Allies and charged with war crimes in the High Command Trial at the Subsequent Nuremberg Trials but was acquitted. Rare war-date D.S. as Field Marshal, 1p. oblong 8vo., "Luftflottenkommando 3", Jan. 31, 1944, in German and untranslated but apparently a list of three men to be promoted. Various dockets and initials, file holes at left, near fine. $600-800
