Description:

SPANISH CIVIL WAR AND RADICAL AMERICAN POLITICS PINS
A lot of five radical American political pin-back buttons and one two piece hanging pin, all from 1936 - 1939, including: a very desirable "FRIEND OF THE ABRAHAM LINCOLN BRIGADE" two-piece pin, enameled red, white and blue on the top piece, with a brass bell suspended beneath. The bell is engraved "Liberty for Spain" and depicts a Republican soldier with beret. Along with a red, white and blue pin-back imprinted "BREAK RELATIONS WITH FASCIST SPAIN", most likely issued after Franco's victory. One small chip that hardly detracts with no evidence of rusting; a red and white oval shaped pin-back, imprinted "LIFT THE EMBARGO AGAINST SPAIN", possibly issued at the height of the Civil War, a time when America took a course of neutrality and would not export weapons. Light wear and scratches at the high-points, otherwise fine; and a small red-yellow and brown pin-back imprinted "MEDICAL AID FOR THE DEFENSE OF DEMOCRACY IN SPAIN, I.L.D.". Slightly faded, otherwise very good. Also, a wonderful example of a blue and white oval pin-back, imprinted "DON'T BUY JAPANESE GOODS, QUARANTINE THE AGGRESSOR", issued at the time the Japanese Army invaded Manchuria. Two small scratches hardly detract. Overall very good, five pieces.
