Smith" as major general, 1p. 4to., [Goldsboro, NC, Jan. 1862], reading, in part: "...three regiments of Miss. Troops...under Gen'l. Davis number some 1300...the 59th Ga...was left at Richmond...I hope the application of Col. Humphrey's and his regiment to be attached to Gen'l. Davis' Brigade will be granted..."
